12 September: Mark Cullen – Day and Night in the Horoscope
We can all see the difference in the sky between day and night so why doesn’t the way we interpret charts reflect this? In ancient and medieval astrology this difference was recognised - all the planets were divided into day or night ‘sect’, aligned with the Sun or Moon. We will be looking at the theory and practice of planetary sect and exploring this much neglected but nonetheless powerful technique in a series of chart examples.

26 September: Anna Estaroth - Mystery charts evening
Tonight we will be trying out a new fun and interactive feature with an evening devoted to ‘mystery charts’. With facilitation from Anna the idea will be to try to identify occupation in the respective charts. For those relatively new to astrology this will be an excellent opportunity to get involved in practical chart analysis with more experienced astrologers.
10 October: Steve Livingstone - Heroes and Heroines
The heroic myth and its enfoldment in the lives of some of the most prominent celebrities of our time. Steve has been interested in archetypal psychology and its links for quite some time and shares some of his investigations with us this evening.
24 October: Inception Charts - Group discussion led by Nick Grier (Room 2)
Bring along charts relating to significant events in your own, or other people’s lives, to explore their relevance to the birth charts.

14 November: Brian Underwood - John Dee
John Dee sought to transcend the limits of human learning with the instructions of the angels, and despite the frustration of his loftiest aspirations his most enduring legacy was his integration of alchemy with his natural philosophy in the publication "MONAS HIEROGLYPHIA". This was a daring and inventive proposal for a symbolic language that had the power to reveal the divine plan of creation, to explain the workings of the material world, and to assist the mystic ascent of the soul. Ironically he left another legacy which exists to this day and obscures this hope! With an analysis of his ideas Brian will show how John Dee was simply manifesting his horoscope.

Bring your own, or other people’s charts, along to explore how the antiscia, or 'shadow' placements, are working behind the scenes.

12 December: Yule Party - A chance just to socialise, eat, drink and be merry! Bring along something to eat or drink to share.
16 January 2013: Royal Observatory Tour at Blackford Hill ObservatoryWe have arranged a private group booking to attend an evening tour of the Royal Observatory at Blackford and weather permitting we will be observing some heavenly bodies. Other features of the evening include a guide to constellations, meteorite handling and slide shows on the Solar System, stars and galaxies.
Time: 7pm-9pm. Cost £4.00 adults £3.00 concessions. Minimum requirement is 10 persons. Please email Mark if you wish to attend.
30 January: Janet Saunders – Into the labyrinth
The labyrinth has been called ‘’the City of Turns’’. When we enter we move, not in the straight line of “left brain” upward progress but twisting and turning, now towards the light and now away from it, in a “right brain” Celtic, sinuous pattern. Labyrinths are many and varied. Can we also see them as a metaphor for life experience, an image of human evolution, the pattern of the way we learn, the movements of the planets? Come along and find out, setting aside the realm of certainty and be prepared for a journey into the unknown.
13 February: Annual General Meeting
This is the last meeting of our Autumn-Winter programme. This year we hold our first AGM under our new constitution. The essential business of the Association takes place at AGM, including election of office bearers and wider Committee for the year ahead. The Association appreciates your attendance and support and to encourage this we will be having an informal social afterwards with some nibbles and refreshments.
Speaker events cost £3.00 for members and £5.00 for non-members (annual membership £10.00). Events marked * denote special guest speaker for which a slightly higher entry free is applicable.
All talks held at: The Theosophical Society, 28 Great King Street, Edinburgh, EH3 6QH. Evening events start at 7.30 p.m. prompt. Refreshments included.
